as it's just after midnight.  I'm so tired but wanted to check in here and say what a brilliant few days I had in Paris last week.  I've finally recovered at last but it was really too much for me.  Even Chel said that if we were going to do it again it would probably be better for me to take a motorised scooter thingy to help me get around, though how that would work on the metro I have no clue!   The Paris Metro system seems to have very few escalators - at least that we came across - and all those stairs were pure, utter hell for me.  But on EVERY train I had a seat, someone always let me sit.  For that I'm truly grateful to each and every person who was so kind to me.  I'm also grateful for painkillers.  I'd have spent most of the time in bed without them.

Oddly enough my breathing wasn't too bad, so I wonder how much is hayfever, dust or whatever.  I'll be discussing that with my doctor.  I'm not up for emigrating though.  I'm happy here.

but I'm happy enough.  Yesterday afternoon Andy and I spent a couple hours playing 'cats cradle' with a big bundle of tangled garden wire, the fine green coated stuff.  It was a pleasant time that stopped us doing the rest of what we planned to do, but hey, we finished it.

I got my book from Transworld, The Colour of Death by Michael Cordy - and have read it and written about it on my reading blog. It was a great read by an author I haven't read before but will again.  When Andy saw me writing my review this morning he said: "Surely you haven't finished that book already".   Uh, yes, I really did.  Every bit of it.

A few days ago I discovered that we might have a wasp nest in the loft (attic).  We called in a man to deal with it.  He came the same day and didn't take long to do the job.  He puts a powder poison on the outside of the entrance to the nest which they track inside and kill off the residents.  Two days later there is no sign of wasps buzzing about where they were.  Apparently they no longer remove the nests.  Wasps won't repopulate them so they can be left where they are.  It was interesting to see the guy in his beekeepers hat with the veil!

Now I'm off to do some housework and ironing so I can go see the latest Harry Potter film tonight.  This is the first time we've waited so long to see one

but instead I've been playing around with this site and I finally think I have something I like better.  I really hope my readers will like it and don't think I've done it to confuse them.    I guess that this is as good a time as any to say that I do like changing things about because I can.   Really it's because there were things I didn't really like on the other layout. I've lost count of how many I've tried out tonight,,,:)   As I've been on the pc since 8pm or so and it's now nearly 2am I really think I should shut this down and head for bed.

Oh yeah, I also found the comments tonight so I was able to okay them and change the settings for them.  How long did it take me to find that little gem?  Ah well, better late than never and I'm sending sincere thanks to those who did comment.  Feel free to carry on posting them.  The old ego can always use a massage....

I've had a link to the Transworld Book Group Reading Challenge where you choose four books to read and review on your blog.  This sounds really great to me and I can't wait to find out more and get started. I'll post more when I know more. I've set up a new site  for my reading where I can review some of the books I read as well as ones from the challenge.  This site is called Sheila's Reading and can be found at http://sheilasreading.weebly.com/index.html

Life has been busy but good lately.  After the day out on Saturday it was a treat to go to Milton Keynes on Sunday with Chel.  She needed some  bits so we had a great time together.  It is soooo much quicker and easier by the car even though we did go to the parking area so I didn't have to walk too far.  We just mooched around getting all the stuff on our lists - and a bit more too.  We didn't go overboard and break the bank though.  A new pretty piece of tablecloth for the kitchen was my extravagance!  A whole £2.50!  Oh, and a watermelon.  Yummy.

So yesterday I thought I should make a bit of a start on the housework and got quite a bit done and felt happier for it.  I love a clean tidy house. It will never be as clean as I'd like but I can live with it as it is.  Today all I did was paperwork and colour my hair.  Boy, I do live an exciting life, don't I?  I'm to tightfisted to pay a hairdresser to do a colour which I can do myself with a box from Superdrug or somewhere.

We've had some lovely hot dry weather here the past few days but it's raining now.  I've enjoyed it but haven't spent much time in the garden.  Ho hum.  That isn't too high on my priority list. Having been so poorly last week the indoor stuff appeals more, at least until the whold house is back to normal.
