Happy Things

This list is whatever I happen to think of that makes me feel good, happy, smiley, or just thankful. It is random and I'll add things whenever I think about it.
Family.
I wasn't really aware of being part of a family when I was growing up. These people were just the ones I had to live with. They weren't individuals like friends were. Then, through many years on my own, I came to realise how much I wanted to be part of a loving family. Now I treasure every contact with each and every one of my extended family.
My Dogs.
My ever-loyal, ever-loving companions. I can't move without one or the other beside or behind me. Occasionally wanting a touch or word, but seldom asking for more than that. They love me as I really am. Update 2010, Max and Lucy are the dogs I wrote about here. Neither of them is with us any longer due to old age and ill health. But we have Stevie who we adopted in 2009. He is a 'Heinz 57' and looks it. You'd go a long way to find a nicer little guy to share your life.
Mugs.
It's nice to look at a mug and remember the person who gave it to me or the place I bought it and remember the day, Some feel really nice to hold, too. Especially when filled with a hot drink on a cold day. Some are pretty, some beautiful, some funny, some just plain and ordinary. Guess that's the same with everything in life.
Keyrings.
Same as above. The ones I love are from places and events that are meaningful to me. Otherwise, why would I spend all that money on them? I didn't think I collected them until recently when I found several tucked away here and there. I like finding them unexpectedly when I'm looking for something else.
Old travel tickets.
I use the credit card size ones as bookmarks when I find them hiding somewhere. Now I keep them and tuck them away to find later! It is nice to look up from whatever I'm currently reading and remember when I used the ticket.
Choices.
I appreciate that I can make choices about so many things in my life. From what to wear to what to eat and drink, what shampoo and what bath oil to use. Whether to have a shower or a bath. Whether to go for a walk or read a book. Sure, I have things that I have to do, but I can still choose whether to be happy or grumpy about it.
