I am a retired lady who is enjoying life as I live it. I have have a wonderful husband, Andy, who keeps me sane, a dog Stevie who keeps me laughing, and my wonderful younger daughter Chel who lives at home. Most of my family are in the US and I am in the UK. We stay in touch through the magic of the internet. I also have family in the UK.
I've met some wonderful people online and enjoy reading what they are up to.

I first started cross stitch in 2008 when my right knee hurt so much that I didn't' know what to do with myself. I'd finished all my old crochet and tapestry projects and was looking for a new hobby. I was retired - hence the name Freelady - and had no clue what to try. My daughter and I had purchased a couple of small kits - the tiny ones for about £1 to see if we'd like them. Well, I knew where mine was and got it out and did it. And found my new hobby.
Soon I got Hubby to take me to Hobbycraft to look for more cross stitch. I remember that I bought a magazine of cross stitch card designs, a piece of Aida, and a pack of 100 own brand threads. As soon as I got home I did the kit from the front cover on the magazine. It was great, but I did have a lot of trouble with seeing which colour was which as I worked my way through it. On the fabric the pink and red looked the same to me. I still have trouble when similar colours are next to each other, but I've learned how to cope with it.
Now I spend far too much time stitching to the detriment of everything else.

An update at last.....
I know I wrote that a good few years ago now and guess it's time for an update. I no longer do cross stitch although I have hundreds of threads, plenty of fabric, hoops, stands and what-have-you to keep me stitching for years to come. I look forward to resuming it one day. I have cataracts forming which make doing it difficult.
However I still have hobbies galore: my computer friends and games, my dogs (we got Jess to keep Stevie company), my books, my Kindle, my DS games to name a few. And I'm now a student at the Open University working my way towards a BA degree. I just started this a few weeks ago but am loving it. I've made a ton of new friends on the Facebook pages for my course and am keeping busy.
I've reestablished contact with some old friends and lost contact with others, but am happy with the circle I have. They are the ones who are there when you need them and who are also there to let you help when they need you.
