Why exercise?
I've never ever understood why people exercise. Jumping and moving their arms in strange ways. Jogging. Hours at the gym. Step classes. Areobics. Why bother? Your body moves all the time.
Recently I've been seeing why and realising that when I was young the idea was never really presented to me as the thing to do. I was quite active and fit before I married and had kids. Then survival became the order of the day.
Time passed and I got fatter and less fit and older. Now I finally see the light. I want to be fitter and healthier so I'm trying to move more every day. No, not at the gym or even walking Stevie every day, but getting out of the chair and moving. And when I'm in too much pain to do much I'm doing what I can. Shrugging, stretching, isotonics. And it feels good. Hot dog - me saying it feels good to be moving. Don't tell my doctor - he won't believe you.
I doubt that I'll get the body into the shape I'd like it to be after all this weight, but I'll be happy to move more easily and to have more clothes choices. But I'm happy where I am for now. The changes have started - in my head, the most important place. If I understand 'why' it's easier for me to do something.
So off we go on another challenge. To get fit and healtier. Feel free to come with me on this journey.
